I <3 My Church: Making a Difference

As we continue through our series about what the church is, week 3 will be looking at the purpose of the church. What was the intent? Why does the church exist?

I <3 My Church: Who Is the CHURCH

We all have misconceptions about “church” that hopefully we can clear up and learn together about what it means to be part of the community of God.

Behind the Seen: Messy World

This week, Pastor Rebecca wraps up our series going through the book of Esther. As we reach the resolution of the story, we see what finally happens and how the Jewish people are protected. The story of Esther is messy, where the reader is wondering where God is in the everyday circumstances. How do we navigate a messy world where it seems like God is absent?

Behind the Seen: Turning the Tables

Gary takes us through chapters 5-7 as the plot thickens in Esther’s story. One of the main themes in Esther is how we see “coincidences” or things that “just so happen” to occur at exactly the right time. Since the author intentionally doesn’t mention God, we are left to peer behind the events as they happen on the surface, and see God’s hand working, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

Behind the Seen: Identity

Looking at chapter 4 of the book of Esther, Gary challenges us to consider who we identify as; with the people of God, or with the world. Esther faces a tough choice in this chapter, how will she respond when her life is threatened and the lives of the entire Jewish people?

Behind the Seen: The Undercurrent

As we continue through the Book of Esther we see themes that can be reflected in the world around us. Gary looks at chapter 3 and the history of the issues of the Jewish people, and how that can be mirrored in the disdain often reserved for God’s people throughout history.

Behind the Seen: The World We Live In

The Book of Esther is unique in the Bible in that God isn’t actually mentioned once! There are no prayers, God doesn’t speak, and we get to see the dramatic story unfold. Throughout the story, we see messiness, scandal, sex, and drama, and yet… we see the Lord at work whether it looks obvious at the time or not.

Conquering the Giants: Parenting

Rebecca, with guest appearance from her husband Nate, is sharing some principles about parenting that ALL of us can apply to our lives. No matter what phase of life you find yourself in, these principles apply to friendship, discipleship, and parenting.
